The question is often asked, who am I, a complex and difficult question to answer. I like to start with what am I? A far more accessible approach that can lead to quite practical insights into the who am I domain.
The Samkhya Karika is the Vedic presentation that addresses just these questions. It starts from a quite nebulous principle and works its way through some difficult theses before presenting some concrete and material elements and terminating with tattvabhyas.
This is my preferred place to start: Tattva abhyas or Samkhya Sideways.
Tattva abhyas are the practices that work with Yoga as a psycho- sensory method and Ayurveda as a functional biology. Each works in a complementary fashion with the 24 tattva or aspects that make up life. The purpose of both is a happy, healthy life leading to awareness of our existential nature through awareness and care for our materiality.
Yoga and Ayurveda both owe their origins to the Samkhya Karika presentation of what life is.
I am proposing both workshops and practice sessions that present Ayurveda and Yoga and their intrinsic relationship through the lens of Samkhya.
I was taught Ayurveda very well and in a very academic way that suited me at the time but also left me with the practicalities to work out for myself.
With twenty years of clinical practice in both Yoga and Ayurveda, studying in both Europe, India and the US, with a few training courses under my belt my approach has evolved and grown. I like to teach Ayurveda & Yoga in a more practical and accessible way and build up the knowledge of the core principles through exploring the elements, the senses, the mind and the application of lifestyle, diet and yoga through the lens of the pairs of opposites.
I have created a method through short modular seminars and workshops that can be stand-alone or taken together lead to the ability to provide Yoga and Ayurveda practices for yourself and others.
